  • ANNOUNCEMENT : PAWPRINT GENETICS

JANUARY 14.2021

Lisa Shaffer at PawPrint Genetics has again offered a generous discount

for genetic testing of Papillons for the year 2021.
Apply code PCA21 to your order to save 40% off any order or 50% off the Papillon Panel. To maximize the savings, members should group the dogs into orders based on the number of tests. For example, dogs with single tests should be in the same order and dogs with the Papillon Panel should be in a second order.
PCA members will receive the discounts when they apply code PCA21 to their order. This new code is effective now and is valid through December 31, 2021. Please note that DNA profiling, Parentage and Clear by Parentage Certificates are excluded from this discount. Discount cannot be applied to previous orders. You can find your tests at www.pawprintgenetics.com or contact them at AskUs@pawprintgenetics.com.

Sincerely,
Stephanie Koeniger

  • ANNOUNCEMENT :

NAD & PRA1 DNA TESTING BOTH TESTS NOW AVAILABLE TOGETHER

Many of you have asked when you would be able to test your dogs for NAD and PRA1 at the same laboratory. We are pleased to announce that you can now do just that! And you have multiple choices of laboratories in several countries. Two of the laboratories (Biofocus and Paw Print Genetics) are not quite ready to offer the NAD DNA test, but will be doing so very soon. For your convenience, we have compiled a list of those laboratories that offer (or will soon offer) both NAD and PRA1 DNA testing for Papillons and Phalénes. We have also included their regular price for the test. Most of the laboratories offer various discounts (seasonal discounts, flash sales, combination discounts, club discounts, health clinics, litter discounts, etc.), which you can learn about from their websites or by contacting the laboratory directly. All of these laboratories will provide DNA test kits and prepaid return shipping with your order, unless otherwise noted.

  • PRA1 + NAD : STATISTIC REPORT : UPDATE

May 22, 2016

It has been four years now since Dr. Simon Petersen-Jones, Michigan State University, announced that his research team had identified the gene mutation for PRA1 in Papillons and Phalénes and developed a simple DNA test for people to use to test their breeding stock. As of this report, nearly 3400 Papillons and Phalénes have been DNA tested by eight genetic test labs

GENETICS  PRA/CHIC/OFFA REPORT

  • PRA1 + NAD : STATISTIC REPORT : UPDATE

April 17, 2016

Dear OFA / CHIC Liaisons,

Please see the attached announcement regarding the OFA’s new Advanced Cardiac Database.

Please feel free to share this information throughout your club. Distribution and reprints are approved and encouraged. I believe the attached announcement should answer most questions, but if not, they should be addressed to the main OFA email box at: ofa@offa.org

While not for actual use since the new forms are triplicate copies, a .pdf example of the new exam form is attached. The new exam forms have been distributed, and most cardiologists should have them in hand.

Thank you,

Eddie Dziuk

ANNOUNCEMENT

Application for Advanced Cardiac Database

SEPTEMBER 2020

While Papillons are generally a healthy breed, there are known genetic problems that affect

   some individuals.

The goal of this Committee is to enlighten the breeding community and the general

public about the types of problems that can occur, in the hopes we can all work

   together to reduce their incidence.
